About The Position

The Chemist I works in an analytical laboratory testing water samples submitted by the Culligan Dealer Network. The role performs non-route analyses and develops methods to detect contaminants in water. It involves sample preparation and tracking, laboratory equipment operation and maintenance, wet chemistry and inorganic testing, and documentation of results. The Chemist I also follows laboratory safety and quality procedures and may work with internal and external customers.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
At least 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Familiarity with laboratory quality systems and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Knowledge of laboratory safety practices and chemical handling procedures.
Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

Prepare, receive, label, and track water samples in accordance with laboratory procedures.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and validate equipment.
Operate laboratory equipment in support of testing.
Record testing results in laboratory notebooks and prepare reports as necessary.
Perform wet chemistry tests on samples.
Review and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Perform inorganic analysis using Ion Chromatography (IC).
Perform Mercury (Hg) analysis.
Follow safe handling and disposal procedures for chemicals and laboratory waste.
Participate in proficiency testing, audits, and quality assurance activities as required.
Work with internal and external customers as needed.
Perform other tasks as needed.
