About The Position

The Chemist I is responsible for performing quality control analyses of wastewater, used motor oil, solid waste, waste antifreeze and refined oil and engine coolant products in a laboratory setting. This role records and interprets data to ensure accurate reports and documents. The Chemist I reports directly to the Laboratory Director and completes essential duties in the Lab Department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • 1-2 year of training and/or work experience in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

  • Performs incoming and advanced sample profiling for the facility.
  • Records and interprets data, then prepares reports on findings in a timely manner.
  • Analyzes finished oil products using various techniques.
  • Conducts wet chemistry analysis for effluent discharge water.
  • Conducts analysis of incoming waste antifreeze samples.
  • Stays current with development in the field and incorporates new techniques and technologies into work processes.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work environment in the laboratory at all times.
  • Orders lab supplies and chemicals as needed to ensure a well-stocked laboratory.
  • Performs weekend and holiday shifts under direct supervision of main analyst in charge.
  • Completes special routine projects as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
