Analyzes a wide variety of samples using Classical Wet Chemistry, Ion Chromatography, Cold Vapor Atomic Absorption, for which there are standards or established methods of analysis or for which the adaptation of standard methods is obvious or determined by others. The role requires performing chemical tests of samples using wet Chemistry, and Ion Chromatography, CVAA instrumentation and apparatus. It also involves performing basic instrument maintenance, recommending methods and procedures updates, interpreting test data, and following quality protocols. The Chemist will enter test results into the Lab Information Management System (LIMS) database and demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to maintain quality assurance and customer service. The position requires the ability to select and apply general and specialized methods, techniques, and instruments, and to analyze samples for which standard or established methods exist or can be adapted. High-level analytical problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to perform the entire analytical process of fundamental analysis without supervisory intervention in the primary area of expertise. Identifying analytical problems during testing and ensuring safety standards are maintained are also key responsibilities. Incidental functions include adhering to quality and safety standards and performing special projects as assigned.
