About The Position

Eurofins Environment Testing Southwest - Calscience is searching for a Chemist I for our IC/HPLC department in Tustin, CA to prepare and analyze environmental samples following EPA protocols in adherence with Eurofins Quality Assurance programs and SOP’s.

Requirements

  • BS or BA in Chemistry or related field; 3 years laboratory analytical experience may substitute for a degree
  • Experience with Ion Chromatography or High-Performance Liquid Chromatography preferred
  • Knowledge of EPA Methods preferred
  • Experience working in a fast paced, production environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing activities as directed by Group Leader in accordance with all applicable company and regulatory guidelines.
  • Monitor backlog and plan testing schedule to ensure sample hold times and turn-around-times are met.
  • Ability to work independently following written and verbal instructions.
  • Effective time management and multitasking skills.
  • Support equipment utilized may include pH meter, conductivity meter, analytical balance, block digester, etc.
  • Instrumentation will be primarily Ion Chromatography focused.
  • Maintain neat and accurate records.
  • Prepare standards and reagents for sample analysis.
  • Prepare soil samples for analysis by the DI LEACH TOT method.
  • Complete first level review on preparation batches.
  • Filter and load water samples onto instruments.
  • Review chromatograms and address QC failures.
  • Monitor analytical data to assure data meets method, SOP requirements.
  • Perform calibrations and/or checks of laboratory equipment such as analytical balances and pipettes.
  • Assist with maintenance of standard, chemical, and supply inventory.
  • Perform general housekeeping within the laboratory to maintain an organized and safe working environment.
  • Conduct daily duties in an efficient and safe manner, remaining compliant with environmental health and safety programs.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
