About The Position

The Chemical Technician role supports laboratory testing and ensures safe, reliable chemical operations within a structured environment where accuracy, safety, and consistency are paramount. The Downstream Chemicals Team utilizes advanced chemistry, digital tools, and extensive industry expertise to provide value-driven solutions for refinery customers, focusing on improving water and process treatment applications to optimize performance, reliability, and safety. As a Chemical Technician, you will be involved in supporting laboratory and operational activities by conducting appropriate tests, adhering to established procedures, and applying moderate analytical skills. This role requires close collaboration with technical and operations teams to guarantee accurate results, safe practices, and consistent execution.

Requirements

  • Have a High School Diploma with 1+ year of laboratory experience, or Have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Have moderate analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Have basic knowledge of chemical testing methods and laboratory practices.
  • Have the ability to follow standardized procedures and work instructions.
  • Have basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
  • Have the ability to work safely in a laboratory or industrial environment while using required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

  • Running appropriate laboratory and field tests in accordance with established procedures and work instructions.
  • Applying moderate analytical skills to review results and identify routine issues or deviations.
  • Demonstrating working knowledge within a general field of chemical specialty.
  • Supporting sample preparation, handling, and basic testing activities.
  • Accurately documenting test results, work activities, and related information using basic computer systems.
  • Following formal procedures and maintenance practices to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Supporting operational and laboratory activities based on business needs.
  • Conducting all work in accordance with company Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) policies, quality standards, and legal requirements.
