About The Position

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking candidates for multiple Chemical Process Engineer positions at their Valdosta, GA Paper Mill. The role involves providing process optimization and engineering support, including compliance coordination, lean projects, quality assurance, product safety, and analytical and systems support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science or equivalent education and experience required.
  • A minimum of 1-4 years’ experience in process engineering or production in the Pulp & paper industry.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Project, and AutoCAD.
  • Successful completion of drug screen required and authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Pulp & Paper Manufacturing Industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to be able to work well under pressure and within time constraints, multi-task, and build sound relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to exhibit excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains methods for tracking and reducing operational costs.
  • Coordinates outside resources to improve operations by filtering and utilizing appropriate information.
  • Conducts data analysis projects and uses data to make business decisions.
  • Ensures pulp, power, paper, and all support operations are compliant with all applicable environmental State and Federal permits and laws.
  • Consults with engineering on capital planning and project implementation for process modifications or upgrades.
  • Supports the Mill's goals for safety, environmental, and other areas of need.
  • Effectively manages jobs for the best result at the lowest cost.
  • Looks for opportunities to solve issues, reduce cost, and improve planning performance.
  • Effectively manages contractors for performing jobs.
  • Performs other responsibilities as needed.
