About The Position

As a Chemical Process Engineer II here at Solstice Advanced Materials, you will work at the Metropolis site providing technical expertise to ensure the operation produces product that meets all quality, cost, and efficiency requirements to a 24/7 manufacturing facility. This role will identify ways to improve safety, quality, yields, and the capability of existing processes. Core challenges include leading continuous process improvement to drive Key Performance Indicators for the operation, meeting goals established by the business, providing technical guidance to the operations team, assisting with process troubleshooting, and developing corrective action plans. The Metropolis site manufactures Uranium Hexafluoride (UF6) as part of the overall nuclear fuel conversion cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Support operations in troubleshooting daily process issues as needed
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement process changes/control plans to drive continuous improvement and to improve baseline safety, quality, production, and cost performance
  • Participate in site HSE and Process Safety Management programs, including Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Incident Investigations
  • Identify and monitor Key Process Indicators to sustain optimal plant operations and deliver on production, yield, and cost targets
  • Work closely with other site engineers to develop and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve OEE
  • Mentor and train operations staff on unit design and intended/optimal operation
  • Have a presence on the floor with front-line workers to find solutions
  • Utilize Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools to drive process improvements
  • Develop capital project scopes of work and associated process packages to improve or maintain unit operations
