About The Position

Southern Ionics Inc. is seeking a Chemical Plant Operator to join their team. This role involves operating plant-specific chemical process systems, loading and unloading materials, performing lab analysis, and ensuring accurate data recording. The operator will also be responsible for adhering to all safety and quality regulations, including ISO standards, and may need to interact with customers during off-hours. The position requires the ability to perform various physical tasks and maintain good communication skills.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Understanding of chemical process
• Aptitude for mechanics
• Ability to read and comprehend detailed specifications
• Basic computer skills
• Must be able to perform several mental tasks simultaneously
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to wear and work in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.

Nice To Haves

• More education or experience in a related field may be required
• Experience working with front-end loaders may be preferred or required

Responsibilities

• Loads and/or unloads trucks, totes, drums, and railcars as required
• Performs lab analysis as required
• Prints Bills of Lading and Certificates of Analysis as required
• Operates the plant-specific chemical process systems as needed
• Operates forklift and pay loader as needed
• Measures and records accurate product, process, and safety data
• Meets the physical requirements of the position, including walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, climbing, crouching, operating tools, and wearing safety gear
• Interfaces courteously with customers via telephone during night/weekend hours, when needed
• Observes all company, local, state, and federal safety, and quality regulations
• Adheres to all ISO standard operating procedures
• Attends monthly safety meetings and required training seminars
• Performs other duties as required/assigned by Plant Manager, Immediate Supervisor, or Transportation Supervisor
