About The Position

Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is responsible for properly labeling, filling, and packaging products for inventory or shipment. The Chemical Packaging Operator provides quality assurance activities to ensure Ricca Chemical Company products meet or exceed stated internal or external packaging/shipping expectations.

Requirements

  • Worked in a chemical blending manufacturing environment where both non-hazardous and hazardous chemicals are present or similar work environment
  • High school diploma or GED, or Technical or Associates degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years or more experience in a manufacturing or industrial industry or equivalent work experience.
  • Able to read, write and comprehend English language.
  • Attention to safety and environmental compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of basic chemical manufacturing or industrial manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and understand the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) of a chemical.

Responsibilities

  • Act responsibly at all times to insure the health, safety, and well-being of self, co-workers, visitors, neighbors, and property. This includes compliance with all RICCA CHEMICAL COMPANY safety policies and procedures, and a working knowledge of government regulations, particularly hazardous material regulations.
  • Minimize packaging problems such as the use of wrong labels, wrong bottles, wrong cleaning procedures, wrong siphons or hoses, excessive number of loose caps, wrong caps, filling orders with incorrect product sizes or quantities, and putting stock away incorrectly.
  • Place labels on properly while placing proper DOT hazardous labels on cases or containers. Ensure every container is in an order, is labeled properly. Labels are placed straight and correctly on containers and cases.
  • Properly fill containers with the proper and consistent volume.
  • Affix correct caps and seals are used. Caps are tightened properly and no leakers due to loose caps.
  • Use proper equipment, siphons, hoses, pumps, carts, etc.
  • Follow procedures for approved inventory rotation, and order filling.
  • Fill out paperwork correctly and completely.
  • Follow instructions and procedures, both packaging and safety.
  • Use correct equipment cleaning procedures to avoid cross-contamination of batches of product due to improper cleaning of product or equipment.
  • Maintain the Production Floor and equipment using regular intervals of preventative maintenance.
  • Understand basic chemical manufacturing or industrial manufacturing processes.
  • Read and understand the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) of a chemical.
  • Safely, manually bottle blended chemicals into various sizes and types of containers to include small and large plastic containers, glass containers, ‘pouched’ cubitainers.
  • Pull materials from inventory for packaging and bottling, such as cardboard boxes, pulp inserts, bottles, containers and lids.
  • Build packaging boxes and box the bottled product into final shipping boxes/containers.
  • Complete manufacturing Batch Ticket documentation of work bottled and/or packaged.
  • Support team members in bottling and packaging when one’s own work is complete.
  • Clean up work area at end of shift or when finished working in area.
  • Consistently meet/exceed standards assigned within Functional Training Document (FTD) program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
