This Chemical Operator role involves performing manufacturing duties related to the production of bulk chemicals, utilizing both manual operations and computerized DCS systems, handling hazardous chemicals, and managing the loading and unloading of materials while ensuring safe plant operations.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Ability to perform duties independently
  • Knowledge and proficient use of computers
  • Must complete Level I & II of Mapleton's Operator Certification Training Program
  • Mechanical aptitude to perform process equipment maintenance

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of math courses
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the chemical industry
  • Understanding of safety & environmental rules and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all corporate and plant policies, procedures, guidelines, and work instructions pertaining to safety; and attend all mandatory safety meetings and training sessions
  • Conduct plant operations in accordance with appropriate standard operating procedures
  • Intervene in potentially unsafe situations and unsafe acts
  • Report any unsafe conditions or equipment and any accident or injury immediately
  • Have a working knowledge of the hazards and proper handling procedures of materials used on a regular basis
  • Inspect and provide for the safe operations of all tools and equipment used on the job
  • Perform manufacturing duties related to the production of bulk chemicals. These duties include both manual operations and computerized DCS system
  • Follows all established procedures to avoid contamination of the environment and complies with proper disposal of wastes
  • Performs product/material sampling of hazardous chemicals per SOP's/work instructions
  • Weighs trucks, reviews shipping papers and signs out shipments
  • Loads bulk trucks and railcars, intermediate bulk containers and obtains the appropriate shipment samples
  • Receives and unloads raw materials, both bulk and drums
  • Performs container labeling, weighing and recording of all pertinent information
  • Conducts a thorough shift handover of all equipment and processing information that has occurred during the course of the shift
  • Ensures that assigned work is up-to-date and work area is left in a neat and orderly manner
  • Operates Powered Industrial trucks
