About The Position

Air Liquide Healthcare company, Seppic, is seeking a Chemical Operator for its manufacturing site near Richmond, Virginia. This facility, opened in 2020, specializes in producing ingredients for cosmetic and pharmaceutical products, enhancing proximity to North American customers and global manufacturing capabilities. The plant is designed with the highest levels of manufacturing quality, integrating Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at all levels and featuring fully automated units with self-cleaning systems for consistent and traceable quality. The facility also prioritizes minimal waste and emissions, utilizing best available techniques and systematic recycling principles, with advanced treatment systems for vent and wastewater to ensure minimal environmental impact. The plant holds ISO 9001:2015, EFfCI, and RSPO certifications. Chemical Operators will work in a team environment to execute manufacturing procedures and work instructions for producing cosmetic ingredients according to the schedule. A strong emphasis is placed on safety and quality standards, as operators will be in indirect contact with process chemicals and the final product.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Basic understanding of chemical manufacturing processes
  • Good understanding of industrial safety practices
  • Good understanding of basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Understanding of Good Documentation and Manufacturing Practices
  • Good ability to read and understand company procedures (SOP’s)
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, use computers and company software
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to drive forklift
  • Self starter and motivated to complete work in a safe manner with high quality level

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Follow and contribute to instructions on batch records as written
  • Complete documentation according to Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Operate and support manufacturing equipment according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Perform equipment cleaning according to approved cleaning procedures
  • Take in-process samples from manufacturing equipment and perform analysis
  • Build understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment operation
  • Monitor and ensure equipment performance during batch processing
  • Identify and report deviations (non-conformance) to management
  • Partner with the team to report near-miss incidents or accidents in a timely manner
  • Maintain a safe, clean workspace and inform maintenance of equipment concerns
  • Collaborate on and suggest improvements to manufacturing methods
  • Join root cause investigations and participate in 5S studies
  • Contribute to other team duties and projects as needed
