About The Position

The Chemical Operator role is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of complex processing systems within a food manufacturing setting. This includes diagnosing, operating, correcting, and managing the outcomes of mechanical and chemical processes. The role requires a strong commitment to safety, food safety, environmental compliance, and adherence to company values. Operators will be expected to learn new concepts through procedures and diagrams, communicate effectively, and utilize Microsoft Office products. They will also be responsible for teaching technical concepts and operating procedures to other technicians. Daily review of emails and E-Log entries is critical for staying informed about job-critical information. Successful completion of proficiency levels within established timeframes is required.

  • Background checks and drug/alcohol screenings will be conducted.
  • Must successfully complete all three proficiency levels within their established time frames.
  • Carry out responsibilities/duties according to food safety, legal and quality requirements so as to ensure that our products are fit for human consumption.
  • Comply with all environmental standards, procedures and work instructions at all times.
  • Report any environmental violations or near misses in order to prevent any impact upon the local environment, its inhabitants and Tate & Lyle.
  • Adhere to the safety policies, procedures and site rules.
  • Fully participate in the safety program, including reporting any incidents or near misses and auditing.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work in food manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • A background in chemistry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Check work email daily for information or instructions that may be critical to their job performance.
  • Daily careful review of all E-Log entries (shift notes and guidelines) in their area. Review logs for all days since the last time at work to keep abreast of any changes, information or instructions that may be critical to their job performance.
  • Carry out responsibilities/duties according to food safety, legal and quality requirements so as to ensure that our products are fit for human consumption.
  • Comply with all environmental standards, procedures and work instructions at all times.
  • Report any environmental violations or near misses in order to prevent any impact upon the local environment, its inhabitants and Tate & Lyle.
