About The Position

The Chemical Plant Operator is responsible for taking daily inventory, unloading and loading raw materials and finished goods, and helping in other operations departments. Chemical Operators are also responsible for using and maintaining equipment to blend chemicals. This role requires the ability to lift up to 75 lbs, frequent walking for inventory and checks, and operation of a skid loader and forklift. A respirator is required for unloading specific chemicals, and the ability to tolerate temperature extremes and work in moderately loud environments is necessary. The position also requires a Class 1A license and a High School Diploma. While 1-2 years of chemical plant experience is preferred, it is not required. The role involves operating production equipment, reading output devices, collecting samples, preparing and labeling materials for transport, troubleshooting equipment, documenting activities, and completing daily batches under supervision. Maintaining a clean and safe environment according to company guidelines is essential, and other duties may be assigned. Requirements

  • Required Class 1A license.

  • Frequent walking is needed to complete inventory, check for leaks, and open/close storage tanks.
  • Required to run a skid loader and forklift.
  • A respirator is required to unload Acetic acid, Formic acid, and Aqua Ammonia.
  • Able to tolerate temperature extremes up to 110F in production and outside on hot days and cold outside temperatures during the winter.
  • Outside work in all-weather elements.
  • Ability to work in an environment that has a moderately loud noise level.
  • Must acquire sufficient skill and knowledge of the chemical processes to conduct operations and processes.
  • Ability to utilize computer and/or electronic equipment.
  • Safety-oriented work habits.
  • Strong attention to small details and precision in all operations.
  • Good analytical, critical thinking, and evaluation abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Take daily inventory.
  • Unload and load raw materials and finished goods.
  • Help in other operations departments.
  • Use and maintain equipment to blend chemicals.
  • Run a skid loader and forklift.
  • Unload Acetic acid, Formic acid, and Aqua Ammonia using a respirator.
  • Tolerate temperature extremes up to 110F and work outside in all weather elements.
  • Work in an environment with a moderately loud noise level.
  • Unload all raw materials according to procedures.
  • Open and close tanks and unloading lines to move raw materials from railcars or trucks to storage tanks.
  • Operate production equipment such as pumps, blenders, reactors, and weigh scales.
  • Read charts, meters, and other output devices to manage machinery with high precision.
  • Collect, label, deliver, and store samples for lab testing.
  • Prepare drums, totes, and other containers for the transport of products.
  • Label packaged materials following company and government regulations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and report them.
  • Ensure all documentation produced follows quality standards.
  • Document and communicate work activities.
  • Operate various pumps, fans, valves, and other equipment throughout the plant safely.
  • Complete daily batches assigned per batch ticket instructions under supervision.
  • Learn and follow applicable procedures to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible job completion.
  • Complete daily inventory with the Plant Manager.
  • Work in other operation areas, including maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment following all company safety guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
