About The Position

Ecolab is seeking a Chemical Plant Operator to join our team in Vancouver, WA. As a Chemical Plant Operator, you'll mix chemical batches by following standard formulas, applicable instructions and current standard operating procedures. This role is crucial in supporting Ecolab's mission to protect public health and the environment. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift or equipment operating experience (heavy equipment, pulling trailers, etc.)
  • No immigration sponsorship available for this role
  • Lift and carry 50 lbs repeatedly, including lifting overhead
  • Push/pull mobile pump and filter carts (up to 500 lbs) 10–20 times daily
  • Lift hoses and fittings (up to 50 lbs) above shoulder height 10–40 times daily
  • Carry hoses (5'–20', up to 50 lbs) 10–20 times daily
  • Squat, bend, and climb (both ladders and steps) frequently
  • Climb side ladders on tank trailers 10–20 times daily
  • Frequently operate sit down forklift
  • Wear rubber boots for entire shift
  • Lift and dump 50 lb bags at waist height at least once per week
  • Climb railcar ladders with fall arrest equipment 5–10 times per week
  • Climb in/out of yard truck, connect/disconnect trailers, set wheel chocks 10–20 times per week
  • Open wastewater press and slide plates 20–50 times per week
  • Wear full slicker suit 1–2 hours, 5–10 times per week
  • Wear full-face respirator 1–2 hours, 2–10 times per week

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of chemical handling experience
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry
  • Previous experience working in a chemical or manufacturing environment
  • 1 year of previous experience working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to read and match numbers on shipping records, labels, raw materials and finished goods
  • Ability to use basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Review daily mix schedules and ensure the raw materials required are available
  • Follow mix instructions and accurately add raw materials to the mixes manually, using pumps or mixing systems
  • Mix batches using variable agitation
  • Perform routine observation of product during the mixing and filling process to ensure batch quality
  • Report any out-of-spec raw material, premixes or mixed batches and consult with Quality personnel on any batch adjustments
  • Properly clean out all mix tanks
  • Operate fork trucks, palletizers, scales, pumps and other material handling equipment to transport raw material and finished product
  • Perform building and equipment preventative maintenance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
