About The Position

Avtec Finishing is hiring a Chemical Maintenance Technician to help maintain the chemical processes, filtration systems, and related equipment that keep our metal finishing operations running safely and consistently. This is a hands-on technical position for someone who enjoys working with chemical processes, solving problems, maintaining equipment, and taking ownership of important production systems. You do not need experience in every area listed below. Candidates with experience in industrial chemicals, wastewater treatment, laboratory operations, manufacturing, chemical processing, or related technical work are encouraged to apply. Our work supports customers in the medical, aerospace, defense, and industrial manufacturing industries. Your work will directly contribute to product quality, production efficiency, employee safety, and environmental compliance. Things to Know Before You Apply We want candidates to understand the work environment and expectations before applying: This position regularly works with industrial chemicals, chemical tanks, pumps, filtration systems, and related equipment. Required personal protective equipment must be worn and safety procedures followed consistently. The manufacturing environment may include heat, humidity, noise, odors, dust, and controlled chemical exposure. The position requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, and safely lifting or moving chemical containers and equipment. Dependable attendance is essential because production relies on these chemical systems. Overtime may be required based on production and maintenance needs. Personal mobile devices must remain secured during working hours and may be used only during authorized breaks in designated areas.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least two years of relevant experience in manufacturing, industrial chemicals, process chemistry, wastewater treatment, laboratory operations, chemical maintenance, or a related industrial environment.
  • Strong basic math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to follow chemical formulas, written procedures, and detailed work instructions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot chemical-process or equipment concerns.
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Ability to complete logs, inventories, and technical documentation accurately.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Legal authorization to work in United States.
  • Additional eligibility requirements may apply when required by customer contracts or government-related work.
  • This position operates within a secure manufacturing facility. All employees must adhere to strict security policies, including restrictions on personal electronic devices, access control, and documentation procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Make chemical additions, solution adjustments, and new solution make-ups under the direction of the Chemical Lab Manager.
  • Perform batch treatments and production tank change-outs.
  • Maintain chemical filtration systems throughout the facility.
  • Monitor chemical systems and identify conditions that could affect production or product quality.
  • Receive, store, label, and handle incoming chemicals according to established procedures.
  • Complete weekly and monthly chemical inventories.
  • Maintain chemical maintenance equipment in proper working condition.
  • Keep chemical storage and maintenance areas clean, organized, and compliant.
  • Complete required logs, inventories, production records, and other technical documentation.
  • Communicate chemical or equipment concerns before they result in production delays.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and continuous-improvement activities.
  • Cross-train in wastewater treatment and hazardous-waste operations.
  • Provide coverage in related areas as needed.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations.
