Position: Chemical Laboratory Technician Location: New Albany, Ohio Reports to: Sr. Chemical Laboratory Technician Shifts: Second Shift: Monday – Friday, 2pm - 10:30pm JOB SUMMARY The Chemical Laboratory Technician supports the anodizing operations, wastewater pre-treatment & recycling systems, and Environmental Compliance. In this role, the Technician is responsible for performing analytical analyses on chemical solutions, including sample collection, titrations, dilutions, reagent preparation, and use of ICP-OES, spectrophotometer, and other instruments. The candidate will communicate their findings via reports and spreadsheets and will be responsible for daily monitoring of air quality, as well as periodic support during HAZ-MAT or First Aid emergencies.

Requirements

  • An associate degree in chemistry, environmental science or equivalent preferred
  • One year of analytical laboratory experience preferred
  • Have experience operating an ICP spectrometer or similar PC-controlled analytical instrument
  • Competence in proper laboratory safety protocols
  • Possess proficient organizational, computational, and communication skills, and computer skills including document and spreadsheet software
  • Work with minimal supervision and cooperate with other departments
  • Ability to differentiate between colors
  • Ability to stand for a lengthy amount of time
  • Flexibility in work schedule to cover illness, vacation or emergency

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analytical analyses using wet lab protocols and acid testing methods
  • Perform manual colorimetric titrations and operate pH meter, oven, balance, and other laboratory equipment
  • Use hydrometer, pipettor, thermometer, and burette, and prepare reagents and calibrate instruments
  • Follow glassware cleaning procedures and general laboratory housekeeping practices
  • Perform routine or preventive maintenance of laboratory tools and equipment
  • Perform other duties as requested
  • Understand basic safety procedures and follow MSDS or company procedures for handling chemicals safely
  • Understand sampling techniques for an industrial manufacturing environment and participate with HAZ-MAT or First Aid teams
