About The Position

This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities. IMEG is hiring a Chemical Engineering Intern in Boulder, CO. Over 10-12 weeks, you will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants on engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of chemical processes. In this role, you will support project work that aligns with budgets, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help meet project goals and client expectations. The team you would join supports industrial, manufacturing, and MEP work, with visible strength in industrial life sciences and pharmaceutical production support.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Chemical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in the engineering consulting or chemical process industry preferred
  • AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist with discipline system design according to code and IMEG standards.
  • Research commercially available equipment.
  • Support client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation.
  • Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD's) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's).
  • Assist in developing equipment and instrument specifications.
  • Perform field work to document existing conditions and current installations.
  • Perform and document technical calculations associated with design tasks.
  • Support cost estimate development, including quote solicitation from vendors.
  • Assist in process controls design, engineering calculations, and bid package documentation.
  • Review project construction progress and document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
  • Assist with review of project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check, and assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
