About The Position

The Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering at Utah State University (USU) is seeking candidates for multiple tenure-track faculty positions in its new Chemical Engineering program. The ideal candidates will possess strong expertise in chemical engineering, with research interests aligning with the program's priorities: upcycling, sustainability, and AI-driven chemical process design. The appointment rank will be determined by qualifications and experience. Research areas of interest include sustainable chemical conversion and upcycling (green chemistry, reaction engineering, sustainable fuels, waste valorization), advanced materials and chemical manufacturing (polymer synthesis, materials science, sustainable manufacturing), AI-enabled process systems (AI/ML for chemical processing, simulation, automation, robotics), pharmaceutical engineering, critical minerals and rare-earth elements extraction, and multi-scale modeling and simulation. Candidates are encouraged to focus on specific areas that complement existing departmental strengths and foster collaboration. Successful candidates will be expected to establish externally funded research programs, teach and mentor students, and contribute to the development of the Chemical Engineering curriculum, laboratories, and program identity. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape a new program within an established department.
