About The Position

The Chemical Engineer reports directly to the Engineering Director and works on varied projects supporting the Coatings Division’s tactical and strategic goals. Projects may include capital, maintenance, process development, and research and development. The role applies engineering, project management, and financial analysis skills, with responsibility for identifying projects and managing them through completion. Travel to company sites is required to research and implement projects, including international and domestic travel of approximately 65–75% of the time. The position offers opportunities to learn operations and financial functions, and advancement may include promotion within engineering or transfer to operations management. The Engineer coordinates projects with other functions, sometimes forming and directing Agile teams; evaluates engineering solutions to manufacturing problems; analyzes and improves chemical processes for sustainability and efficiency; and investigates process innovations. The position also supports capital planning, contracts, equipment and process improvements, process-system design, laboratory oversight, and engineering problem solving using CAD. Safety, initiative, detailed documentation, communication, and consistent interaction with production sites are important aspects of the role. Work takes place in both an office and operations environment, including regular presence on plant shop floors and possible hands-on involvement in project installations.
