About The Position

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is seeking qualified personnel to join their staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a government contractor focused on supporting Y-12's mission of ensuring a safe, secure, and reliable U.S. nuclear deterrent. While employed by AIS, employees will receive day-to-day direction from Y-12 staff. AIS provides pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management functions. Applicants must be US citizens, at least 18 years old, and meet pre-employment requirements including physicals, drug screens, and background investigations for Department of Energy clearance. This position is contingent upon contract award and funding; work cannot begin until funding is confirmed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive professional experience including process design of complex nuclear or chemical facilities.
Ability to obtain/maintain DOE Q Clearance.
US citizen, at least 18 years of age.
Able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

Responsibilities

Support the Mechanical Project Design group at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant.
Provide process design support to the Lithium Processing Facility Project.
Participate in designs ranging from scope definition, feasibility and conceptual studies, and preliminary/detailed designs.
Develop flowsheet development (block diagrams, process flow diagrams, and P&IDs).
Perform analyses and calculations.
Prepare reports/studies and Process Descriptions.
