About The Position

This contract role is for a chemical engineering specialist who evaluates, challenges, and refines advanced language models on domain-specific chemical engineering topics. The work applies technical precision, practical problem-solving, and process reasoning to help improve AI-generated engineering content. The position is with an AI Data Services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate that provides training data for major AI companies and foundation-model labs. The role is remote, and the interview language is English.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of professional chemical engineering experience, with meaningful hands-on work in process design, plant or operations engineering, process safety, scale-up, manufacturing, utilities, EHS, quality, R&D, controls or automation interfaces, or a closely related specialty.
  • Deep knowledge of chemical engineering fundamentals, including material and energy balances, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, reaction engineering, separations, unit operations, and process control concepts.
  • Strong comfort with engineering calculations, assumptions, constraints, and defensible reasoning, including uncertainty, safety factors, and limitations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Strong written and technical communication skills in English, as English is the interview language.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or PhD, PE or Chartered credentials, or advanced professional certifications.
  • Previous experience with AI data training, annotation, red-teaming, or evaluating AI-generated technical content.
  • Familiarity with PFDs/P&IDs, Aspen Plus/HYSYS, CHEMCAD, process datasheets, PSM documentation, HAZOP/LOPA, or SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, logical soundness, completeness, and clarity across chemical engineering topics.
  • Challenge advanced language models with realistic chemical engineering scenarios, calculations, and process-informed reasoning tasks.
  • Review and refine AI-generated prompts, model responses, explanations, and step-by-step engineering solutions.
  • Provide structured feedback identifying factual errors, flawed assumptions, missing constraints, unsafe recommendations, unit or consistency mistakes, and incomplete reasoning.
  • Assess model performance on material and energy balances, phase behavior, thermodynamic property use, unit operations and sizing logic, distillation and separation design logic and feasibility checks, process control reasoning, process safety, scale-up and manufacturability, operability, and plant-scenario troubleshooting.
  • Help shape AI communication standards for technical chemical engineering content, including how models explain assumptions, limitations, calculations, and professional judgment.
  • Ensure AI-generated content reflects sound engineering principles, appropriate safety considerations, and responsible technical communication, including when to escalate to a licensed engineer or site expert.
