This role serves as a Chemical Dependency Counselor at Cincinnati Children's, primarily located at the College Hill Campus, with opportunities at the Lindner Center of Hope and various clinics. The position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 am-4:30 pm, with no weekend, holiday, or on-call duties. The counselor will act as a professional resource for patients, guardians, staff, and external agencies, utilizing crisis intervention techniques and maintaining certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention. They will serve as a subject matter expert on chemical dependency, collaborating with the Residential Intake team, providing educational offerings, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. Key patient care responsibilities include screening and assessing patients for substance use and abuse, providing diagnostic impressions and treatment recommendations, tracking patient progress, facilitating treatment plans, offering one-to-one support sessions, and completing referrals to substance abuse treatment services. Documentation in the electronic medical record and communication with the treatment team are essential. The role also involves collaborating with the treatment team in providing parent/family education.
