The Chemical/Container Preparation Assistant supports the clinical and development laboratories by preparing reagents, performing quality checks of laboratory water, performing pipette verification, and other support functions. This role involves working with biohazardous chemicals and preparing container/kits. The assistant will perform quality checks of containers, work with small amounts of chemicals, and be responsible for prioritizing, scheduling, and managing delivery routes of containers. Additionally, the role includes washing and sterilizing laboratory glassware and equipment contaminated with biological waste, providing pick-up and return of processed items to laboratories using carts, and decontaminating biological waste for the department. On-the-job training is provided. The assistant will work in all areas and perform other assignments as defined by the Laboratory Supervisor. Individuals hired for this position are required to complete 2 years in this role before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.
