About The Position

Responsible for operating and, when required, setting up equipment used in chemical processing operations. This includes chemical bath tanks, manual and solenoid valves, pumps, pressure washers, compressed air systems, cranes, and PLC-based control panels. The role prepares and maintains chemical solutions and solids used for etching, stripping, cleaning, and related processes. Uses measuring devices, monitors chemical and lab equipment inventory, and works from printouts, sketches, shop manuals, standard practice manuals, and written or verbal instructions. Maintains required standards for quality, efficiency, cleanliness, and recordkeeping, including logging process and test results. Performs part preparation and cleanliness processes including hand scrubbing, manual abrasive blasting, and robotic abrasive blasting, using required tools and measurement devices to ensure parts meet processing and cleanliness requirements. Performs minor preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and systems, trains others as needed, uses hand tools, and supports movement of hardware as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 1 year of hands-on hazardous chemical experience (such as chemical usage and safe handling) or 1 year experience working on aerospace hardware
  • At least 18 years of age by the time of joining
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds frequently. Items more than 40 pounds will be lifted with assistance or lifting devices
  • Ability to move heavy drums of solution and perform other heavy lifting as needed
  • Ability to work in a noisy, hot, and abrasive environment and wear appropriate safety gear such as eye protection, respirator, safety shoes, gloves and shop coat for extended periods of time
  • Role requires use of shop math and gauges with the ability to obtain and maintain OAP certification
  • Role requires operating various hand and power tools and equipment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years’ experience working with acids and bases and ability to understand associated hazards.
  • 3+ years’ experience working on aerospace hardware
  • 1+ years’ experience performing physically demanding tasks in hot and humid environment on a frequent basis
  • Experience performing minor visual inspection to verify initial and final condition of work
  • 1+ years’ experience with basic use of computers, applications, and keyboarding (e.g., PLCs, email, Microsoft Excel, etc.)
  • 1+ years’ experience performing all work while wearing all the proper PPE (face shield, goggles, gloves, uniform, safety shoes)
