About The Position

Nordstrom Restaurant Group is seeking a Chef to lead the culinary program at our flagship Manhattan restaurant. This role is designed for a chef who brings a strong culinary skill set and disciplined operational leadership to the kitchen. The Chef will lead a high-performing culinary team while delivering exceptional food quality, thoughtful menu execution, and consistent kitchen standards. This leader will bring a modern, ingredient-driven point of view while honoring classic culinary technique and maintaining the operational discipline required in a high-volume environment. Working in close partnership with the Restaurant General Manager and Corporate Chef, Team, the Chef will help shape the restaurant’s culinary identity while building strong systems, developing talent, and delivering a dining experience that reflects Nordstrom’s commitment to quality, hospitality, and craftsmanship.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef, Executive Chef, or Chef de Cuisine in a high-quality restaurant environment.
  • Strong understanding of kitchen systems including prep standards, recipe documentation, and training programs.
  • Experience managing food cost, labor, and operational discipline in a professional kitchen.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite including Excel and Outlook.
  • Basic math skills supporting food ordering, inventory management, and cost control.
  • A food handler’s card where required by local and state regulations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the kitchen team to deliver exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency aligned with Nordstrom Restaurant standards, setting expectations through visible, hands-on leadership.
  • Drive menu execution and innovation by evolving seasonal offerings that reflect ingredient integrity, contemporary culinary trends, and multiple day parts, in partnership with the corporate culinary team.
  • Leverage seasonal produce, seafood, and local supplier partnerships to develop relevant, innovative menus that support store events, brand partnerships, and business growth.
  • Maintain disciplined culinary systems including recipe documentation, prep standards, station organization, training materials, and execution playbooks.
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing culinary team through mentorship, clear accountability, and a culture grounded in professionalism, respect, and continuous improvement.
  • Uphold operational excellence through consistent kitchen rhythms that ensure cleanliness, food safety, allergen awareness, and full regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with the Restaurant General Manager to support financial performance through food ordering, cost controls, labor planning, and inventory discipline.
  • Collaborate with beverage leadership to deliver thoughtful food and wine pairings that elevate the guest experience.
  • Hire, train, and develop kitchen talent to build bench strength and support internal growth and succession.
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships with store leadership and Nordstrom teams to support events, initiatives, and overall store performance.
  • Drive sales growth and guest loyalty through relevant culinary innovation that supports multiple day parts, store events, and an expanding customer base.
