About The Position

Carmel Terrace, a faith-based assisted and independent living community sponsored by the Carmelite Sisters, is seeking a Chef to prepare food and help oversee kitchen staff. The community is located in Framingham, Massachusetts. Compensation is $27 per hour, based on skills and experience. Shifts vary between 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; every other weekend is required. The Chef works in cooperation with the Director of Dietary/Executive Chef, follows food-safety and sanitation requirements, prepares meals according to standardized recipes and special diet orders, and supports timely, organized meal service. Requirements

Institutional chef experience is required.
ServSafe certification is required.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Ability to follow production sheets and standardized recipes is required.
Organizational skills and the ability to work independently are required.

Responsibilities

Supervise kitchen staff in cooperation with the Director of Dietary/Executive Chef.
Handle and prepare food in accordance with federal, state, and local sanitary regulations.
Prepare food according to standardized recipes and special diet orders.
Meet scheduled times for serving meals and snacks.
Ensure food is prepared, cooled, and stored in accordance with corporate, local, state, and federal guidelines.
Supervise and set up the steam table for Main Dining Room and trayline meal service to support organized, prompt, and sanitary meal delivery.
Check outgoing food for proper amounts, types, and quality.
Properly care for dietary equipment.
Maintain compliance with OSHA, Department of Public Health, and Board of Health standards.
