About The Position

FRESH IDEAS is hiring an energetic CHEF to lead the culinary team at MID PLAINS COMMUNITY COLLEGE. In this role, you will ensure client and customer service satisfaction with efficient cost effective management across multiple campus dining locations. You will be responsible for developing new menus, recipes, and ordering. North Platte, NE, offers a mix of small-town charm and a variety of activities to keep you engaged. North Platte has a strong sense of community, with friendly and welcoming residents. There are plenty of recreational opportunities, from parks and trails to sports facilities and golf courses. Lake Maloney and the Platte River provide great spots for fishing, boating, and other outdoor activities. Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of culinary management experience.
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.
  • Hands-on chef experience is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products including Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive catering experience is preferred.
  • High volume batch cooking and complex food service operations experience is preferred.
  • ServSafe Certification is preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides frontline culinary resources and support.
  • Assists with food cost control, menu planning, purchasing, and ensures food quality guidelines are followed.
  • Assists with planning and creating menus.
  • Produces and executes catering events.
  • Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with marketing and culinary team.
  • Assists with managing cost controls and control expenditures for the account.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
