About The Position

We are hiring immediately for a full time CHEF position at Belmont Abbey College. This role involves directing, coordinating, and evaluating assigned kitchen, food production, and food-service associates. The Chef will supervise, coordinate, and participate in the activities of cooks and other associates engaged in preparing, cooking, and serving food, ensuring all food handling, sanitation, and customer service standards are met. This position also involves supervising hourly kitchen associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action. The Chef will efficiently prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes to meet production, delivery, and service schedules, and will be responsible for serving meals or preparing them for delivery, ensuring proper presentation, food quality, portion control, and maintenance of proper serving temperatures. Additionally, the role includes tracking food use, waste, and consumption for requisitioning or purchasing, receiving and inspecting product and supplies for quality and quantity, and maintaining the sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils. The Chef will also help select and develop recipes and menus and perform other duties as assigned. Please note that due to the nature of working in an educational facility, there may be periods when work is not required (e.g., winter and summer breaks), which may be unpaid and considered a temporary layoff.
