About The Position

Haleon is currently seeking an Operations Maintenance Manager to join the Montreal (Saint-Laurent) team. This role is ideal for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit, who is comfortable with ambiguity and eager to be part of the Maintenance team. The Operations Maintenance Manager manages the resources of the maintenance department to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with Haleon's safety and quality standards. They support the site strategy by ensuring production equipment is available when needed to meet customer demand. They coach engineers and technicians and oversee the maintenance of production equipment at the Montreal site to maintain performance and improve the reliability of critical equipment. The Operations Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning and scheduling all maintenance activities. They ensure that maintenance and reliability teams have the necessary resources, tools, and methods to achieve objectives defined with key internal clients. They also ensure that all activities in their sector comply with GMP requirements and company standards and policies, guaranteeing that equipment remains compliant with current regulations. As a member of the operations management team, the Operations Maintenance Manager contributes to achieving the objectives of other departments and plays a central role in continuous improvement initiatives affecting the entire group. They ensure effective collaboration between stakeholders and support projects aimed at optimizing the overall performance of the department and the site.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in French is required for effective communication and adherence to operational and regulatory standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 10 years of experience in maintenance required, including a minimum of 7 years in supervisory or management roles.
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment or a highly regulated industry.
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec.
  • Good writing and communication skills to interact with all levels of company management.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Excellent presentation skills and knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Ability to manage budgets or technical resources in a structured manner.
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with different internal levels.
  • Documentary rigor in record-keeping, compliance, and follow-up of maintenance activities related to SOPs, audits, compliance, and GMP.

Nice To Haves

  • Approximately 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or OTC industry.
  • Proficiency in GMP/GMP standards.
  • Expertise in TPM, PM, KPI management, and reliability optimization.
  • Experience in budget management, validation, SOPs, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to collaborate with suppliers, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Experience in implementing or improving engineering processes based on industry best practices.
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives covering multiple teams or sectors.
  • Ability to simultaneously coordinate multiple maintenance projects and activities in a constantly evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintenance, reliability, and spare parts for production equipment on site.
  • Responsible for departmental budgets and inventory control for maintenance spare parts.
  • Responsible for coaching and executing the site's preventive maintenance strategy, based on Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), preventive maintenance (PM), and other industry standards.
  • Must be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) of the site's CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Plan, schedule, and provide training and coaching to team members on TPM processes, planned maintenance, and root cause analysis, while maintaining efficiency at the highest possible level at the lowest cost, in accordance with prescribed quality standards.
  • Responsible for maintenance-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the site.
  • Recommend desirable improvements and modifications to methods, procedures, processes, equipment, and layout.
  • Manage suppliers and consultants to ensure contracts include appropriate technical specifications and are delivered according to requirements.
  • Write, revise, update, or approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed.
  • Responsible for the timely maintenance of maintenance department compliance records.
  • Lead and supervise staff to ensure performance, development, effective communication, and maintenance of a positive work environment.
  • Enforce EHS rules, GMP requirements, and applicable corporate policies within the team.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and optimal workload distribution among resources and relevant sectors.
  • Establish the department's annual budget, continuously monitor it, and approve required validation protocols.
  • Define sector orientations, develop business processes aligned with corporate standards, and contribute to the development of the plant's master plan.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal clients and establish operational priorities according to partner needs.
