About The Position
Corner Table Restaurants is hiring a Chef de Cuisine for The Smith, a popular casual neighborhood brasserie serving bistro classics, seasonal fare, and craft cocktails. The position is based in New York, NY. The Chef de Cuisine will direct and maintain the company’s culinary vision, oversee kitchen teams, and ensure consistent standards for food safety, sanitation, policy execution, and kitchen operations. The role also makes final back-of-house hiring decisions and manages labor and kitchen waste. The company emphasizes team development, integrity, hospitality, and maintaining a positive, inclusive workplace culture. The position offers a base salary of $115,000–$120,000 per year, with compensation within the range determined by factors including employment history, job-related knowledge, qualifications, and skills.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience working as an Executive Chef in high-volume, full-service restaurants.
- A proven track record of nurturing and developing high-performing teams, including at least three salaried managers and more than 30 hourly kitchen team members.
- High standards of honesty and integrity.
- Confidence and attention to detail.
- Teamwork and excellent communication skills.
- Genuine enjoyment of making people happy and ability to have fun while working.
- Love and passion for the hospitality industry.
Responsibilities
- Direct and maintain Corner Table Restaurants’ culinary vision.
- Oversee and direct all kitchen teams.
- Uphold food safety, food handling, and sanitation standards to protect the health and safety of staff and guests.
- Make final hiring decisions for the back of house.
- Ensure consistent execution of company policies.
- Manage labor and kitchen waste.
- Train values and maintain the integrity of the culture.
- Nurture and develop high-performing teams of at least three salaried managers and more than 30 hourly kitchen team members.
