About The Position

The Chef de Cuisine is responsible for the overall management and daily operations of the kitchen. This role oversees food preparation, quality standards, menu execution, sanitation compliance, inventory management, labor control, and team development while ensuring exceptional guest experiences. The Chef de Cuisine works closely with the Executive Chef to maintain culinary excellence and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-4 years of progressive culinary leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, menu planning, and cost control.
  • ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and purchasing procedures.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in hot, fast-paced kitchen environments.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or comparable supervisory culinary position preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise all kitchen operations and culinary staff.
  • Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control standards.
  • Assist with menu development, recipe creation, and seasonal offerings.
  • Manage scheduling, staffing, training, and performance coaching of kitchen employees.
  • Maintain food cost controls and labor budgets.
  • Oversee purchasing, inventory management, and product receiving.
  • Ensure compliance with all health department, sanitation, OSHA, and food safety regulations.
  • Monitor kitchen productivity and workflow to maximize efficiency.
  • Collaborate with restaurant leadership to achieve financial and guest satisfaction goals.
  • Resolve guest concerns related to food quality and service.
  • Conduct regular inspections of kitchen equipment and work areas.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Assume responsibility for all kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
