About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and creative Chef/Cook who takes pride in preparing delicious, nutritious meals while creating a welcoming dining experience for our senior living community. The Chef/Cook is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals that meet residents' dietary needs and preferences. This position ensures food is prepared safely, maintains kitchen sanitation standards, and provides residents with meals featuring exceptional hospitality and care.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a cook or chef, preferably in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or restaurant settings.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Ability to prepare meals for multiple residents efficiently.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Food Handler's Permit or ServSafe Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks according to planned menus.
• Follow physician-ordered diets and accommodate special dietary needs.
• Ensure food is prepared with quality, consistency, and proper portion sizes.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen in accordance with state and local health regulations.
• Monitor food inventory and notify management when supplies need to be reordered.
• Properly store, label, and rotate food products using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
• Maintain accurate temperature logs and food safety documentation.
• Work collaboratively with coworkers, caregivers, and other team members to provide excellent resident care.
• Be flexible in adjusting menus based on resident preferences, seasonal offerings, and special events.
• Assist with holiday meals, themed dining events, family gatherings, and community celebrations.
• Treat every resident with dignity, kindness, and respect while providing outstanding customer service.
