About The Position

Assist the Cheese Department Manager in maintaining efficient operating procedures and standards. The individual filling this role should be knowledgeable and passionate about cheese and specialty items; possess strong retail operations skills, be comfortable with computer based inventory maintenance systems, and above all, have a passion for customer service.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience and proven success in a retail environment
  • Familiarity with, and passion for, specialty food and cheese
  • Ability to safely lift 65 lbs. continuously and consistently
  • Ability to project friendly, helpful presence to customers while maintaining a professional demeanor
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organized, with attention to details
  • Competence in basic computer office applications (word processing, email, spreadsheets)
  • Basic arithmetic skills
  • Ability to handle multiple demands, prioritize according to department needs, and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Familiarity with cheese, specialty food, and natural foods
  • Ability to safely lift 60 lbs. continuously and consistently

Responsibilities

  • Assist with POS data management in SMS
  • Front and face all stock; ensure signage is accurate and attractive
  • Replenish and rotate displays, culling daily, and follow established stocking priorities, trim cheeses as needed
  • Support inventory management best practices, e.g. FIFO, Date maintenance
  • Dispose of damaged or spoiled products in accordance with departmental procedures and with appropriate notification to Cheese Department Manager or Assistant Manager.
  • Assist with ordering and receiving goods for the department
  • Document ordering schedule and ordering tools
  • Communicate with vendors as assigned
  • Assist with deliveries, including; checking order for quality, verify piece count and weights, help with unloading as needed, assist with organization and storage of back stock.
  • Supervise Member workers in the Manager(s) absence
  • Ensure that all workers follow core hygiene protocols
  • Update member worker scheduling calendar
  • Work with Store Merchandiser and Department Manager on incremental resets and d cor, case and display merchandising
  • Assist with signage production
  • Keep retail, prep, and storage areas in clean, orderly condition. This includes, but is not limited to, removing trash, breaking down boxes, (cleaning cases, cleaning surfaces, washing sink)
  • Assist in morning set-up or evening closing as needed
  • Note and advise Cheese Department Manager or Assistant Manager of any repairs, replacements, and/or additions needed to maintain equipment
  • Check email at least once per scheduled work day
  • Participate in departmental meetings as directed
  • Assist with periodic physical inventory counts as directed
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Cheese Department Manager or Assistant Manager
