About The Position

The Cheese Shop/Murray's Cheese Master creates a distinctive customer experience through food passion, cheese knowledge, interactive customer service, team leadership, and merchandising. The role works closely with Deli Merchandising and District Staff, as well as direct reports, to provide outgoing, personal, theatrical cheese retailing in the store. The Cheese Master models proactive selling and strong product knowledge to drive targeted sales and demonstrates the company's values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Requirements

Management experience, food retail experience, or a two-year culinary degree.
Willingness to taste cheese daily.
Support for cheese business initiatives.
Ability to inspire, motivate, and train staff while ensuring successful completion of tasks.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to multitask.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Strong desire to learn, enthusiasm for the product, and interest in and willingness to try new and innovative approaches.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain the Murray’s Cheese experience through interactive customer service, ongoing product education, effective cross-selling, merchandising, and promotion of designated products.
Maintain a knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly staff trained in Murray’s operations and products.
Communicate and ensure compliance with Kroger and Murray’s policies, operating standards, and procedures.
Ensure staff follow food safety, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and sanitation procedures.
Place orders and maintain inventory.
Set up weekly in-store selling events.
Contribute to store goals for increasing sales and improving profit.
Control shrink and waste by following Murray’s and Kroger’s best practices.
Control labor expenses through appropriate scheduling.
Meet or exceed budgetary goals for the Murray’s Cheese Shop.
Supervise and coach direct reports, complete performance reviews, and provide feedback.
Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
