About The Position

Adams is seeking a Cheese & Coffee Manager to lead the Cheese & Coffee department and promote the values and standards of Adams Fairacre Farms. This role involves ensuring outstanding customer service, achieving departmental goals, maintaining product quality, and leading a team of associates. The manager will be responsible for ordering, inventory management, staff scheduling, training, and ensuring compliance with safety and labor laws. This position requires strong decision-making skills, knowledge of department operations, and the ability to foster a positive work culture.

Requirements

  • Decision making skills on behalf of the Cheese & Coffee Department
  • Full knowledge of the operations of the department
  • 5 years of Cheese & Coffee experience
  • 3-5 years of managerial experience
  • Cheese & Coffee professional leadership experience
  • Awareness and driving support office initiatives
  • Proficiency in Windows programs and communication tools
  • Ability to work collaboratively, communicate, and lead a team of co-workers alongside store management
  • Ability to demonstrate, encourage, and set the example of Adams’ culture and values
  • Exhibit enthusiasm, positivity and/or knowledge about Adams’ products and quality
  • Experience gained through growth and leadership within Adams may also be considered, provided the candidate can demonstrate proven ability to lead teams, support daily Cheese & Coffee operations, and uphold Adams’ standards for quality and service.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure outstanding customer service by greeting shoppers, offering product knowledge, and maintaining a friendly, helpful environment.
  • Achieve profit margin, payroll, and expense goals while minimizing shrink, waste, and attrition.
  • Maintain proper stock levels, ensure product freshness and quality, and set pricing for sale and non-sale items.
  • Order products, check deliveries for quality, and write transfers for inter-store shipments.
  • Schedule, supervise, and train staff; develop an assistant and ensure schedule coverage during peak hours.
  • Train and support new and existing Cheese and Coffee associates to build a strong, effective team.
  • Monitor safety and ensure compliance with labor, sanitation, and pricing laws and the Adams Safety Handbook.
  • Educate employees on product handling, rotation, display standards, and store procedures.
  • Address employee performance through evaluations, private correction when needed, and recognition for a job well done.
  • Handle unexpected issues like call-outs, conflicts, and inventory problems quickly and effectively.
  • Address customer complaints to ensure satisfaction and protect the store’s reputation.
  • Keep the department clean, organized, and visually appealing, including sales floor, counters, and prep areas.
  • Schedule staff based on availability and ensure payroll is accurate to support operations and budget goals.
  • Conduct interviews, handle disciplinary discussions, and help employees grow by setting clear goals that align with company objectives.
  • Communicate regularly with team and management, attend meetings, and respond to emails promptly.
  • Foster a positive work culture by setting a professional tone, encouraging morale, and giving regular praise.
  • Support store-wide cooperation by collaborating with other department managers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Manage inventory and purchasing to meet customer needs and reduce waste.
  • Review department reports to track performance and support decision-making.
  • Check in with each team member during overlapping shifts to ensure clear communication and address any concerns.
  • Keep accurate and organized records to support smooth operations and compliance.
  • Support store management with daily operations and overall store goals.
  • Help with all department tasks to keep operations running smoothly
