This position serves as the Cheerleading Sponsor for the Varsity team during the Fall season. The sponsor will provide coaching, mentoring, and support to students, organizing and supervising all related meetings and activities. Responsibilities include assisting with arrangements for transportation, chaperones, security, and custodial help for both in-county and out-of-county activities. The sponsor is expected to ride the bus to and from activities and remain until the last student departs. Additionally, the role involves ensuring the care, cleaning, and security of school and District property, reporting all accidents/injuries, and adhering to District policies and procedures, including those on tobacco, alcohol, and drugs. The sponsor will act as a liaison between faculty, administration, students, and the community, and will assist the Administration/Activities/Athletic Director in developing cheerleader selection criteria, planning tryouts and practices, and maintaining uniforms and equipment. A key aspect of the role is supervising cheerleaders at practices and events, emphasizing good sportsmanship, leadership, respect, fair play, and academic success. The sponsor will also work with the Activities/Athletic Director to arrange transportation and chaperones, manage student eligibility, and plan/supervise fundraising activities. At the end of each season, specific reports on letter winners, awards, inventory, and program needs must be submitted. The sponsor must also be able to administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed.
