This role involves providing coaching, mentoring, and support to students involved in cheerleading. The sponsor is responsible for organizing, supervising, and coordinating all cheerleading-related meetings and activities, both during and outside of the regular school day. This includes assisting with arrangements for transportation, chaperones, security, and custodial help for various activities, both within and outside the county. The sponsor must accompany students to and from activities, remaining until the last student departs. Responsibilities also include the care and security of school property, reporting accidents, adhering to district policies, and serving as a liaison between various stakeholders. The sponsor will work with administration to develop cheerleading selection criteria, plan and conduct tryouts and practices, and manage uniforms and equipment. Emphasis will be placed on promoting good sportsmanship, leadership, respect, fair play, and academic success. The role requires coordinating transportation and chaperones, monitoring student eligibility, and planning fundraising activities. At the end of each season, specific reports on letter winners, awards, inventory, and program needs must be submitted. The sponsor must also be prepared to administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed.
