About The Position

Wiz Kids Sports Camps are seasonal youth sports camps that offer athletic and academic enrichment to participants. The Cheer Coach is responsible for helping to teach fundamental skills as well as more advanced strategy. The Cheer Head Coach supervises and guides campers through the day-to-day activities of the overall camp experience including field trips. Camp hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, subject to change based on camper enrollment and grade class sizes. The camp season runs from June 7-August 6, 2027, with staff orientation on May 29, 2027, and camp move-in dates in early June.

Requirements

• Prior cheerleading experience at the high school and/or college level.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with campers, staff, and leadership.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise groups of children in an active camp environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe, positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for all campers.
• Experience developing or facilitating age-appropriate drills, practices, games, or recreational activities.
• Experience working with children of varying ages, abilities, and skill levels.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, or other applicable safety certification.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience working in a camp environment.
• Previous summer camp, youth development, education, recreation, or childcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Help teach fundamental skills and advanced strategy in cheerleading.
• Supervise and guide campers through daily camp activities, including field trips.
• Develop and lead daily sport-specific drills and game components.
• Ensure the welfare of campers and positively resolve camper-related issues by communicating clearly and consistently with camp leadership staff.
• Comply with Suspected Child Abuse Reporting requirements.
• Perform additional duties as contracted.
