About The Position

The Checker plays a critical role in ensuring accuracy, accountability, and efficiency in the loading and unloading of delivery vehicles at the beer distributor. Working within a union environment, the Checker verifies that all outbound orders are complete and accurate according to invoices, ensures compliance with company policies and union work rules, and helps safeguard product quality, driver accountability, and customer satisfaction. The Warehouse Checker is responsible for verifying, inspecting, and documenting all recyclable and returned materials within the recycling department. This role supports daily recycling operations, ensures accuracy of materials and inventory, and helps maintain compliance with company procedures and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior experience in warehouse, distribution, or delivery operations strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physical warehouse environment (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods).
  • Effective communication skills with union and non-union team members.
  • Basic math and computer/data entry skills for recordkeeping.
  • Previous warehouse, recycling, or inventory/checking experience preferred
  • Basic computer or handheld scanning device experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pallet jacks and forklifts is a plus (training may be provided)

Responsibilities

  • Accurately check and verify all cases, kegs, and packages being loaded onto delivery trucks against invoices and load sheets.
  • Ensure product count, brand, size, and packaging match customer orders.
  • Identify and report discrepancies such as shortages, overages, or mispicks immediately.
  • Monitor loaders to ensure product is stacked and secured safely for transit.
  • Confirm load accuracy and proper placement of returns, empties, and breakage.
  • Sign off on completed loads before trucks depart.
  • Verify returned product, empties, and kegs from delivery drivers.
  • Document damaged or missing items according to company procedure.
  • Communicate variances to delivery and warehouse management.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with union work rules, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Promote a safe and organized work environment by reporting hazards or unsafe practices.
  • Cooperate with warehouse staff, drivers, and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Maintain accurate check sheets and reports.
  • Communicate clearly with drivers, loaders, and managers to resolve issues before trucks leave the facility.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in accuracy and efficiency.
  • Verify and inspect incoming recyclable materials and returns from routes and warehouse operations
  • Check and reconcile quantities of empties, breakage, and recyclable materials against documentation
  • Identify and report discrepancies, damaged goods, or non-compliant materials
  • Support truck check-in processes, including reviewing returned materials and breakage
  • Assist with staging, stacking, and proper storage of recyclable materials for shipment
  • Ensure recyclable materials are prepared and documented for outbound shipment to vendors
  • Maintain accurate records using warehouse systems or handheld scanners
  • Work closely with recycling, receiving, and delivery teams to resolve issues and ensure accuracy
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization of the recycling and breakage areas
  • Follow all company safety procedures and regulatory requirements

Benefits

  • Hourly salary: $19.50/hr.
