About The Position

This is not an official description, but represents major responsibilities a new hire can expect to perform. The position of checker involves providing friendly and courteous service to customers, greeting them, and accurately checking out their purchases. This includes identifying produce items, using proper product codes, distinguishing and processing manufacturer and Schnucks coupons, collecting correct payments (cash, checks, debit/credit cards, EBT, WIC), completing register records accurately, and maintaining cash security. Checkers are also responsible for bagging customer orders and changing register receipt and coupon machine tapes. Other duties may be assigned by store management. Requirements

Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline) (for internal candidates)
If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance (for internal candidates)

Nice To Haves

Minimum of six months employment with Schnucks (for internal Store/Facility Teammates)
Minimum of one year employment with Schnucks (for internal Store Support Center Teammates)

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
Greet customers prior to checking their order
Check out customer’s purchases accurately
Identify and know produce items and be able to properly use produce and product codes
Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons
Process manufacturer coupons
Collect correct amount due from customer
Use proper procedure of accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers and other payment options
Complete register record accurately
Practice and maintain cash security
Bag customer orders
Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes
Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management
