About The Position

A Chassis Shop Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repair, and maintenance of various types of heavy machinery with a focus on quality and efficiency. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and a strong commitment to very high safety standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician.
Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in heavy machinery.
Must have and maintain a standard set of Mechanics tooling including up to ¾ drive.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
At least 5 - 6 years of Caterpillar experience repairing machines.
You must be willing to work in other departments when necessary to care of the customers’ needs.

Nice To Haves

Trade school or technical education in heavy equipment repair is a plus.
Knowledge of Caterpillar software and programs a plus.

Responsibilities

Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while working on site to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Perform work with efficiency and within dealership flat rate guidelines.
Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as PM Services, filter replacements, tire checks, and fluid checks.
Replace faulty components, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps and lines, cylinders and a variety of other components.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on equipment such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, telehandlers and backhoes.
Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to test and troubleshoot complex machinery operations and malfunctions.
Repair or replace parts such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and undercarriage components.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with Caterpillar’s Contamination Control Guidelines and ensure tools and equipment are maintained and stored properly
Read and interpret technical manuals and schematics in SIS to support repair work.
Provide technical advice and support to other technicians on proper equipment repair and maintenance.
Ensure that machines are repaired according to Caterpillar standards.
Keep detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, and services performed on equipment by utilizing Cat Interact and write accurate and detailed service reports.
Attend all hands-on training and attend relevant technical classes to further develop your skills & knowledge.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
