Chassis Prep Operator - 1st Shift

About The Position

This role is responsible for preparing the OEM chassis for module mounting. This involves installing the Braun electrical harness, auxiliary lines for the A/C and heating unit, and other various options. The operator will receive, review, and interpret instructions, prints, and work orders. They will use machine and hand tools, including a plasma cutter and cutting torch, to cut, form, and install components and materials within the vehicle. Specific installations include intersection, grill, flashing lights, harness system, heater, AC lines, siren speakers, ignition solenoid, AC, grill switches, sway bar, grill guards, after-market bumpers, alternator grounds, neutral safety, security systems, door locks, and suspension systems. The role also involves disassembling the chassis cab interior by removing all interior components, disconnecting the chassis computer, and preparing battery cables. Additionally, air lines will be routed and tanks mounted if applicable.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with small machinery, power, air and hand tools; and tape measure
  • Knowledge and experience with automotive servicing and/or repair
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical schematics
  • Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Regularly require to walk, talk and hear, reach with hands and arms, stand, crouch and kneel
  • Frequently required to use hand to finger dexterity in order to handle objects, tools, and/or controls
  • Occasionally required to stoop or crawl
  • Successfully pass a post offer drug test, as well as random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug and alcohol test thereafter

  • Disconnection of chassis computer and battery cable preparation.
  • Route air lines and mount tanks.
  • Mount tanks if applicable.
