About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Chassis Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical and electrical issues on trailers and chassis. This role involves performing a variety of repairs, including brake systems, electrical systems, suspension, and structural components. The position also requires welding and fabrication skills, as well as performing routine preventive maintenance. Accurate documentation of all work performed is essential, often utilizing mobile applications. Safety compliance is paramount in this role, and candidates must be able to troubleshoot complex issues. Effective communication with supervisors, dispatchers, and team members is crucial, as is managing truck inventory and maintaining the service truck's organization.

Requirements

Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
Experience with welding and fabrication techniques.
Familiarity with trailer braking systems, including ABS and air brakes.
Experience with trailer electrical systems, including diagnostics and repairs.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatchers, and other team members.
Ability to accurately document repairs and work orders.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift flexibility.
Flexibility for weekends and holidays is required.
Understanding and following all safety procedures.
Ability to lift and handle heavy tools and parts.

Responsibilities

Identifying and diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems with trailers and chassis.
Performing repairs on various trailer systems, including brakes, electrical systems, suspension, and structural components.
Conducting minor welding and fabrication work on chassis and trailer components.
Performing routine maintenance tasks like tire changes, brake adjustments, and fluid checks.
Accurately documenting repairs and work orders, often using mobile applications.
Following all safety requirements while working on trailers and in the workplace.
Identifying and solving complex issues with trailer systems.
Using electronic devices to log work orders and document repairs.
Communicating effectively with supervisors, dispatchers, and other team members.
Managing truck inventory and maintaining the service truck's cleanliness and organization.
