About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a vital role in delivering quality patient care under the supervision of healthcare providers in a medical office setting. The CMA is responsible for performing clinical and administrative tasks to support the efficient operation of the office, ensuring compassionate and effective service to patients. By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Certified Medical Assistant contributes to the overall patient experience and supports the medical team in delivering exceptional healthcare services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from a recognized certifying body (e.g., AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA).
  • Association accredited course in Basic Life Support (BLS) (for clinical staff), or Heartsaver CPR AED (for nonclinical staff), and renewal on a regular basis, with up to a three-month grace period after the expiration date.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) and office software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Compassionate patient care skills and attention to detail.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a medical office environment is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Adding patient's medical history to the electronic medical record using past medical office notes and patient provided questionnaires.
  • Proactively requesting and integrating external medical histories, including past surgical notes, recent laboratory results, and diagnostic imaging from previous providers.
  • Accurately documenting current medication lists.
  • Flagging known allergies or missing health screenings.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
  • Adhering to facility Values, Service Excellence and Standards of Excellence.
