Chart Analyst
About The Position
Newport News Behavioral Health Center is a 108-bed intensive and highly structured residential treatment facility for the psychiatric and behavioral health needs of adolescent males and females ages 11-18. The center includes an on-site certified school, therapists, and vocational programming. Located in Newport News, VA, a seaside city rich in maritime history, it is conveniently situated near Washington D.C. and other major North Eastern cities. The Chart Analyst is responsible for ensuring that the content of clinical notes pertaining to patient care, treatment, and services complies with all licensing and DMAS regulations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Knowledge of Virginia Medicaid billing.
- Previous experience in medical records preferred.
Nice To Haves
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or Business field is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Performs weekly audits on 100% of all open charts concurrently to ensure that the medical records documentation meets the requirements of the regulatory agencies.
- Scans confidential medical forms and attaches supporting documentation to patient records.
- Processes Release of Information (ROI) requests in accordance with applicable confidentiality and compliance requirements.
- Creates and organizes medical record storage folders.
- Maintains and manages the department filing system.
- Collects, scans, and uploads documentation into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Develops and implements a system to evaluate whether education and in-service training initiatives are improving staff documentation practices.
- Gathers required patient documentation and uses charting systems to accurately scan materials into the appropriate patient record.
