The University of Dayton School of Engineering enthusiastically invites applications for three named endowed chair positions within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Specifically, we are seeking candidates for the Charles Weber, Reinhold W. and Alice Mohl Kubach, and Marvin Mumma Chair positions. The successful candidate will position the University of Dayton School of Engineering as a leader in engineering education and research to enrich national and global impact while affirming and contributing to the achievement of the school’s goals, initiatives, and programs. Relevant research areas for the chairs include any topics falling within the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering and contributing to the University of Dayton’s School of Engineering and campus-wide strategic vision. While all members of the SoE Faculty are expected to demonstrate a standard of excellence in their contributions to SoE and the profession, the prestige and perquisites traditionally associated with endowed faculty make performance with distinction especially important for these appointees. As such, successful candidates are expected to deliver outstanding scholarly activity. This can include the scholarship of discovery, integration, application, and teaching. Additionally, the selectee is expected to provide sustained leadership and impact throughout their tenure. In particular, they are expected to positively impact society through community engagement, research, design work, or creative endeavors and empowering others to do so; facilitate the experiential learning of undergraduate or graduate students; foster inclusive excellence, a sense of community and collaboration; and contribute to the organization through the enhancement of lab facilities, increased external funding or partnerships, and advancement of SoE and campus-wide vision, goals, initiatives, and programs. This endowed chair is expected to develop collaborative, transdisciplinary internal and external partnerships, innovative educational experiences and curricula, and participate in recruiting and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in addition to faculty members. In support of this appointment, the endowed chairs will be granted one course release and $25,000 to procure equipment, provide student support, or for summer salary. Finally, continued participation as a full member of their regular department by attending departmental faculty meetings, advising graduate and undergraduate students, and interacting with other department members is required.
