About The Position

Charge Nurse, Surgical/Telemetry 2FG Shift- Full-time, 1st Shift Unit Overview: 2F/G is a 30 bed medical surgical/ telemetry unit that specializes in telemetry patients and fast turnaround surgery including urology bariatrics, and orthopedic overflow. This unit serves our Bariatric Center of Excellence patients. Our patient population is mostly transferred from the ED and PACU. Job Description: Under the direction of Unit Director, Clinical House Supervisor, +/or Designee, provides supervision of workflow and staff for a designated shift in overseeing the efficient functioning of the department. Assures the provision of patient care, by addressing performance, risk management, patient, family and physician issues/concerns as appropriate. Role models caring behaviors in relationships with others. The Charge Nurse is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness. As a clinical nurse, the charge nurse spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable.

Requirements

Active Kentucky RN license
BLS, ACLS and/or other designated unit specific certification training/requirements. [Must obtain BLS within 30 days of hire.]
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or currently actively pursuing a BSN degree. (BSN degree must be completed within 5 years of starting program)
Minimum of one year of Registered Nurse experience.
