About The Position
Our 5TA Medical team provides medical/surgical care to adult populations with a wide variety of complex medical conditions. We focus our efforts on restoring optimal physical and mental well-being in each unique situation with a constant goal of maintaining a safe and supportive environment for our patients. Our unit consists of 16 med/surg tele beds and provides post-post-op colorectal care. We are looking for a high-energy RN with excellent communication skills to join our team of healers.
Requirements
- Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required
- Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
- 1 year experience as a Registered Nurse preferred.
- (Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).
- RNs with less than one year experience are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program.
Responsibilities
- Systematically assesses / reassesses the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
- Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
- Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgement guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations and policy.
- Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts and reach sound conclusions.
- Serves as department leader alongside and in absence of Nurse Manager.
- Maintain ACLS.
- RN will oversee and promote bedside handoff at shift changes.
