About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a night shift Charge Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team of medical professionals in Jacksonville, Florida. This role involves managing all aspects of healthcare for individuals incarcerated in the Jacksonville Pre-Trial Detention Facility. The Charge RN will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals, providing care to patients while also overseeing nursing staff and operations as a supervisor and coordinator. This is a unique position offering the opportunity to make a difference in a diverse patient population with complex medical needs.

Requirements

• Current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in Florida.
• Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required).
• Ability to pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
• Two years of full-time RN experience.
• Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards.
• Knowledge of infectious disease management.
• Knowledge of applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct.
• Ability to comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate shift activities.
• Perform initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.
• Monitor and document patient health, including vital signs and medical histories.
• Conduct daily clinical rounds, provide direct patient care, triage, assess patient needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services.
• Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and ensure timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
• Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
• Understand and adhere to correctional facility security protocols, working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and well-being.
• Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and report relevant information.
