About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Charge Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team of medical professionals in Jacksonville, Florida. This role involves managing all aspects of healthcare for individuals incarcerated in the Jacksonville Pre-Trial Detention Facility. The Charge RN will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals, providing care to patients while also overseeing nursing staff and operations. Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in Florida.
  • Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred).
  • Ability to pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Two years of full-time RN experience.
  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of infectious disease management.
  • Knowledge of applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates shift activities and performs a wide range of duties, including assessing patients, administering medications, managing emergencies, and ensuring adherence to established protocols and procedures.
  • Performs initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.
  • Monitors and documents patient health, including vital signs and medical histories.
  • Conducts daily clinical rounds, providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services.
  • Responds to medical emergencies, provides first aid, and ensures timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
  • Educates patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
  • Understands and adheres to correctional facility security protocols, working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and well-being.
  • Maintains accurate medical records, documents treatment plans, and reports any relevant information.
